Meet Ellen McCormack, LMFT

Ellen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adults and couples.  Her specialties include depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and relationship issues.  She uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, the Trauma Resiliency Model, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. 

Ellen graduated cum laude from Boston University with degrees in Psychology and English Literature.  She then received a merit scholarship to study at Chapman University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, where she participated in research projects on the use of mindfulness skills and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to treat anxiety, mood and eating disorders.  She co-authored the chapter “Somatoform and Dissociative Disorders” in Psychopathology: Foundations for a Contemporary Understanding, which was published in 2012.  She also received further post-graduate training in the Trauma Resiliency Model, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. 

Prior to starting her private practice, Ellen was the Primary Therapist and Program Director of several eating disorder treatment programs.  She has been a local leader in the eating disorder field and is passionate about helping people make peace with their bodies and with food and exercise. 

Ellen is an LA native, a true crime fan, a dog lover, and a coffee fanatic. When she’s not working with clients, you might find her savoring a latte, or see her out on a long walk with her dog.
